We would also like to thank our other sponsors Dawn Meats and Corrib Oil.

We have several sponsors of individual shearing events which is a very important aspect of the competition. We are indebted to their generosity and a full list of all sponsors will be given at a later date.

Queen of the Wool:

On Friday 30th May we have a great nights entertainment planned with the selection of Queen of the Wool. Ollie Turner of Galway Bay F.M. will be interview the ladies on the night. The judges will already have got to know all about the queens at a dinner being organised and sponsored by The Arches Hotel, Claregalway prior to the selection night. (www.thearcheshotel.ie )

There are lots of novelty items taking to the stage also that night and to round it off the night we have local artists Top Form providing the music.

On Saturday night 31st May sees Louise Morrissey and her band taking to the stage in the marquee at the venue. On Sunday night sees the Oyster Boys entertaining us.

Other attractions during the weekend will include An Open Tug-of-War Competition. This is a great honour for us to be able to host this competition and there is a great interest locally, given that members from the parish travelled throughout the county some years ago taking part in tug-of-war.

There are numerous sideshows planned to cater for all. A fun-fair for children, face painting, balloon-tying and much more. Furthermore, Sheaf-throwing and horseshoe tossing will see the skills of most being tested.

Families travelling to this event will also be able to enjoy lots of places of local interest, including the famous Knockma (Queen Maeve) and enjoy the landscaped walk to the top. It has breathtaking views. The nearby towns of Tuam, Headford, Claregalway and Galway itself have much to offer.
